M.E.D.I.A. Festival W.R.A.P. Party - May 7, 2005

Jeffrey Champ opened the W.R.A.P. Party show. The band consisted of Jeffrey (vocals/guitar), Jonathan Rex (guitar), and Joseph Dawa (drums). We played three songs:

1. No Hope
2. Who Are Your Friends?
3. Love Is Destruction

Since we lacked a bass player, we decided to keep the guitars thick and grungy by not playing guitar solos--we kicked it Nirvana-style! Joseph, however, was indeed the almighty Joseph Dawa, as he gave the thick guitars a very finessed rhythm--very Pumpkinsesque! As for my vocals, I am still working on making it more grizzled and grainy--it actually forces me to feel the emotion of the music.

In total, it was a great show. Many thanks to Advent for letting us use their large amplifiers and drumkit. Their set rocked! Unreformed played later in the night, and they were also great!

Special thanks to everyone for coming to the show! The Wandering Troubadour Tour 2005 continues...

Jeffrey Champ on a Field

"Love Is Destruction"

May my love destroy us both so that we may become pure heart and soul / But let the world go down in flames if I never hear your voice again

May your hope protect this town like a child held safely in your arms from harm / But all our dreams keep crashing down and I have no one else to lose but you

I'm in love with you can't do anything about it / Floating in the dark we are / Yes I'm in love with you can't do anything about it / Before I say goodbye a kiss goodnight

May our faith create a star to shine down on the heavens below our feet / But all our dreams keep crashing down and we will never be the same again

I'm in love with you can't do anything about it / Floating in the dark we are / Yes I'm in love with you can't do anything about it / Before I say goodbye a kiss goodnight

No matter what / No matter where you are / And no matter who I become this year

May my love destroy us both so that we may become pure heart and soul...

I'm in love with you can't do anything about it / Floating in the dark we are / Yes I'm in love with you can't do anything about it / Before I say goodbye a kiss goodnight / Goodnight / Goodnight

Wandering Troubadour Tour, 2005

I recently had a quasi-gig at a Tsunami Benefit show on April 23. On the bill were a Poet, a Gospel Choir, a Metal Band, and myself. It was fun, but the show would have been such a trip if it was done better--look at the artists put together! I guess the song that I am relying on (a pseudo-single) is "No Hope":

There is no hope
There is no hope
There is no hope for the human race
See what we've done to ourselves

Is your faith make-believe?
To love or deceive?
Apparently doing as we please

Take my hand it will be okay
Take a chance rise above the flames
If all else fails I will be to blame hey hey
Take my hand it will be okay

We'll find a way through this maze of skeletons
Will we become who we hate?

There is no pain we cannot take
This is no fear we cannot create
There is no fate we cannot escape
There is no hope on your human face

Take my hand it will be okay
Take a chance rise above the flames
If all else fails I will be to blame hey hey
Take my hand it will be okay

In the end we will make it right
Darling darling darling please don't leave
In the end we will make it right
Darling darling darling come back to me

Take my hand it will be okay
Take a chance rise above the flames
If all else fails I will be to blame hey hey
Take my hand it will be okay

In the end she will make it right
In the end she will make it right
In the end she will make it right

Right now
Without doubt
Without fear
Without me

Yeah she will
Yeah she will
Yeah she will

Jeffrey Champ's Concept Album

Jeffrey Champ / Dear Mis...

ACT I - concerning her suitors
1. Drink the Soul
2. The Troubadour
3. A Declaration of Desperation
4. Love Is Destruction
5. Who Are Your Friends?

ACT II - concerning her nightmare
6. Shiva Complex Blues
7. Your Evil Twin
8. Launching Rockets
9. Vengeance
10. The Rain

ACT III - concerning her destiny
11. A Letter from Misericordia
12. A Stranger Comes to Town
13. You and Me (and the End of the World)
14. No Hope
15. Somnus

This is going to be a very rock-oriented album. I've demo'd most of these songs, but I want to take these songs to the next level. I'm currently looking for the Order of the Troubadour (musicians to jam and record with) and the Society of Gloves (a co-producer, team of engineers, mixers, etc., as well as business-types who'll respect the music and not screw over the musicians).

I want this "concept album" to be as epic and grand as divinely possible. It may not be groundbreaking, but I want this collection of songs to ROCK.

Saturday's show has been postponed. Stay tuned for updates!

Before the unfortunate news, Jeffrey jammed with Broken for the first time in about a year. They jammed on each other's songs and tried out some covers. It would have been an awesome show, and inevitably, it will be an awesome show.

Jeffrey Champ's setlist (what could have been):

1. Launching Rockets
2. No Hope
3. You and Me (and the End of the World)

2. AOL - "Pardon Me and My Nom de Plume"
3. MySpace - "Liner Notes"
4. LiveJournal - "A Stranger Comes to Town"
5. Blogger - my 5th blog...for the hell of it

Jeffrey Champ / "Who Are Your Friends?"

I want you
Let me crawl the earth
It is barren like my soul

To find you
To find truth and answers
To questions you must know

Who are your friends
May I torture them
Who are your friends
May I devour them

Let's pretend
I'm still in love with you
Let's pretend
You will see me through

I am the underdog
I am the sorrow god
I will hold you in the dark

Serendipity
Or the gods' pity
These tears you have to shed

Who are your friends
May I torture them
Who are your friends
May I devour them

Let's pretend
I'm still in love with you
Let's pretend
You will see me through

Who are your friends
May I torture them
Who are your friends
May I devour them

Let's pretend
I'm still in love with you
Let's pretend
You will see me through
Out of this hole
Out of control
Drunk in my soul
It's come down to this

I am the underdog
I am the sorrow god
I will hold you in the dark
